Structural business statistics 2021 Robust growth in jobs in 2021

24.08.2023 - In 2021, the Swiss economy counted almost 626 000 businesses and just over 5.4 million jobs. Following a historic fall in the number of businesses and jobs in 2020, growth has returned. In fact, despite the ongoing health crisis in 2021, an increase of some 9400 businesses and 128 000 jobs, or 1.5% and 2.4% respectively compared with 2020 was recorded. This is the biggest expansion in jobs since this statistic has been available (2011 data). These are the latest results of the Federal Statistical Office's (FSO) structural business statistics (STATENT).
