Value added statistics

The production and value added statistics make it possible to observe, by means of accounting results, the structure and trends of business activities in the various sectors of economic activity. The statistics are created annually on the basis of a sample survey amongst enterprises in the secondary and tertiary sectors (excluding banking, insurance and health).

In 2021, the gross sample was 21 923 enterprises out of a population of 161 804 (enterprises economically active in the sectors concerned, with at least three employees).

The production and value added statistics are created annually on the basis of a sample survey amongst enterprises in the secondary and tertiary sectors. They do not include banks and insurance companies.

The results enable :

• the calculation of structural data and micro-economic ratios at economic branch level;
• the estimate of the main macroeconomic aggregates for the National Accounts;
• the comparison of economic data that is relevant at national and international level.
