In order for the classifications of economic activities to correspond to reality (creation, decline and disappearance of activities over time), it is necessary to update them.
To ensure international comparability of statistics, the resulting revision processes must be carried out in a concerted and coordinated manner.
In 2019, the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) has launched the revision of NACE. At the same time, the FSO has also decided to launch a revision process of the NOGA. In March 2021, the United Nations Statistical Office (UNSD) formalized the process of revising the International Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (ISIC).
The revision of the NOGA is a major project that is being carried out in collaboration with producers and consumers of official statistics. This will allow the NOGA to continue to reflect the reality of the Swiss economy and to produce statistics that meet the needs of society.
