Longitudinal analyses of education and training (LABB) Social background, length of stay and educational pathway have strong influence on obtaining an upper secondary level qualification

28.02.2022 - In 2020, 91.4% of the approximately 82 500 young people aged 25 who were already in Switzerland at the age of 15 obtained an upper secondary level qualification in vocational or general education and training. Social background, length of stay in Switzerland and the educational pathway in compulsory education are among the factors that have a strong influence on obtaining such a qualification. These are the results of a study based on exhaustive data conducted by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), which followed the pathways of young people who turned 15 in 2010.

You can find further information in the press releases in German, French and Italian. The English version only contains the lead of the press release.
