For the first time, scenarios for federal diplomas of higher education and Advanced federal diplomas of higher education are developed. They look at developments up to 2031 in the number of first diplomas awarded. The main factors of change are demographics, the propensity of young people to obtain a federal VET diploma and the transition to the professional education.
Over the period 2022-2031 and according to the reference scenario, the number of diplomas expected in the field of professional education would increase by 6% (2031: 29,200 diplomas). The largest increases would be in the fields of « Health, excluding human medicine and nursing » (+18%), « Nursing » (+21%) and « Welfare » (+20%). In contrast, the field of "Management and Administration" is hardly expected to grow at all over the next 10 years (+1%).
