Financial situation and mental health of students during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic and its restrictions worsened the mental health of a large number of students at higher education institutions in 2020. Between 30% and 49% of students reported more symptoms related to depression and anxiety or a feeling of loneliness than in normal circumstances. The pandemic had not, however, affected most students' financial situation. Nevertheless, the situation of the most vulnerable groups worsened. In particular, students with a migration background and those studying Music, Theatre and other arts were the most affected.
