According to the latest findings of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), 590,000 people in Switzerland were affected by income poverty in 2012. 130,000 of these were employed. Some 1.19 million people were at risk of poverty, and around 280,000 people showed an income-related deprivation in at least three out of nine areas of life. According to all concepts used, lone parents, persons with a low level of education and persons in households with a low level of participation in the employment market are particularly affected.
