Travel behaviour of the Swiss resident population in 2008 More journeys with overnight stays - fewer day trips

Neuchâtel, 20.11.2009 (FSO) - In 2008 the Swiss resident population made almost 100 million journeys, somewhat more than in 1998 but fewer than in 2003. Day trips were increasingly extended into short journeys with overnight stays, while holiday journeys were made more frequently to faraway destinations. These are the most important findings from the survey conducted by the Federal Statistical Office on the travel behaviour of the Swiss resident population in 2008.
