Criminal convictions of minors and enforcement of juvenile sanctions in 2021 Rise in convictions of minors in 2021, except for the Narcotics Act

28.06.2022 - Overall, 20 092 convictions of minors were passed in 2021, representing an increase of 7.5% compared with 2020. Convictions under the Criminal Code and the Road Traffic Act rose by 6.4% and 15.4% respectively. In contrast, convictions under the Narcotics Act fell by 23%. The most frequent sanctions were cautions, personal work orders and fines. In 2021, 1038 young people were placed in foster care. These are some of the findings of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
