Families in Switzerland - Statistical report 2021

Households with children under the age of 25 account for just under a third of private households in Switzerland. The majority of children live together with both parents. 13% live in lone-parent households and 6% in patchwork families. Although social transfers considerably reduce the poverty rate, many lone-parent households find themselves in a difficult situation. They are more often at risk of poverty, dependant on social assistance and are less satisfied with their life in general.
