Three new agglomerations and 10 more towns than 10 years ago: urbanisation continues in Switzerland

Neuchâtel, 18.12.2014 (FSO) - 73% of Switzerland's inhabitants live in agglomerations which consist of core cities and peripheral communes. This value is calculated on the basis of a new statistical definition for areas with urban character developed by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). The new method means it is possible to better depict urbanisation in Switzerland in statistical terms.
