Rehabilitation care in Swiss hospitals in 2017 The number of hospital stays for rehabilitation continued to rise in 2017

In 2017, Swiss hospitals and clinics recorded over 89 000 rehabilitation cases. This figure has risen by 31% since 2012; in comparison, cases of acute care rose by only 7%. The increase can be mostly attributed to the age groups 65+, whose percentage share is steadily growing. Rehabilitation costs totalled CHF 1.84 billion in 2017, i.e. 9.8% of all inpatient hospital costs. These are the results of a publication on rehabilitation care from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
