Swiss Adult Education Survey 2011 High participation in education and room for improvement in satisfaction

Neuchâtel, 24.06.2013 (FSO) - Some 63% of the Swiss population aged 25 to 64 were able to participate in education and training as planned, or did not have the intention to do so. 25% took part in an education or training activity but would have liked to participate more. Only 12% were not able to participate in education and training at all even though they wished to do so. The main reasons given for not being able to participate in an educational activity were "lack of time" (33%), "family commitments" (16%) and "too expensive" (15%). These and further results appear in the latest publication from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on the 2011 Swiss Adult Education Survey, a survey from the new modular population census system.
