Longitudinal analyses of education and training (LABB) The pandemic has not halted the increase in the number of new international students at higher education institutions

11.01.2022 - Thanks to the reputation of its education system, each year Switzerland welcomes an ever-growing number of international students into its higher education institutions. In 2020, despite the crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on global mobility, the number of new international students continued to rise (+4% compared with 2019). For 2021, initial estimates show trends similar to those of 2020. These are the main findings of a new publication from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

You can find further information, such as for example graphs, in the press releases in German, French and Italian. The English version only contains the lead of the press release.
