Household Budget Survey: results 2020
Compared with previous years, the expenditure of private households in Switzerland in 2020 showed considerable changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, categories affected by restrictions showed a considerable downturn. Compared with 2019, expenditure on hotels and restaurants, for example, fell by 38% to CHF 343 per month. In contrast, no significant shifts in income were observed in 2020. The average disposable income of CHF 6789 per month is comparable to that of 2019. These are findings from the Household Budget Survey 2020.
