In light of the increasing importance of computer-readable, open data, the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) has offered this type of data from 2019 onwards as part of the federal votations.
On the Sunday of the last elections (20.10.2019), the Federal Statistical Office published the results of the provisional, official results in real-time as computer-readable JSON and csv files (open government data), via the opendata.swiss portal. These included the allocation of seats, the parties’ share of votes, electoral participation and the results by lists and candidates. It was a great success.
All open government data have been updated with the final results from the 2019 elections and are available on the opendata.swiss platform:
Maps visually showing the live results produced from real-time data were also published on the day of the elections in the Political Atlas of Switzerland below:
In the future, the Federal Statistical Office will provide the same offering for all federal votations.
