Administrative data on VAT received by the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) are used as a main source for calculating the turnover for all enterprises active in Switzerland. For all enterprises subject to VAT, the original VAT values are used. The missing data are calculated by imputation based on the original VAT values. Turnover is used as a variable for various statistical estimates. These data are integrated into the Business and Enterprise Register (BER) and made available to statistics producers.
