Experimental statistics: COVID-19-related special analysis of the mobility and transport microcensus
At the start of 2021, just under a year after the beginning of the pandemic and roughly in the period of the second lockdown, on average almost a third fewer kilometres were covered per person than immediately before the first wave of infections. A particularly sharp decline was seen in public transport distances with a reduction of 52%. Motorised individual transport fell considerably less at –27%. Distances covered on foot and by bike saw hardly any difference.
