Social assistance recipients in 2018
Revised version of the 2018 national results following corrected data delivery from a canton (17.07.2020)
In 2018, 274 200 persons in Switzerland received social assistance in the form of a financial benefit on at least one occasion. Both the number of social assistance recipients and the social assistance rate thus fell for the first time since 2008. Of all cases with a benefit withdrawal, 49 000 persons were able to leave social assistance, corresponding to a share of 27.9%. This leaving rate has been calculated in the current reporting year for the first time.
