Vital statistics in 2023
2023 was characterised by a downturn in live births and deaths. The average number of children per woman was the lowest ever recorded (1.33). Life expectancy increased to a level higher than that observed before the pandemic. The number of marriages and divorces also fell between 2022 and 2023.
