Swiss timber harvest increased by 4% in 2022

26.07.2022 - With just under 5 million m3, in 2021 4% more timber was harvested than in the previous year. Sawlogs accounted for 2.5 million m3 – an increase of 6%. Fuel wood confirmed its important position in energy supply. In the process, the demand for lumberwood increased again and the higher timber prices reduced the deficits of the forest enterprises. These are some of the findings from the Federal Statistical Office’s (FSO) Swiss Forestry Statistics and from the test forestry operations network run by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN).
