Swiss hotel sector generated a record 41 million overnight stays in 2023

07.12.2020 - The hotel sector registered 13.4 million overnight stays in Switzerland during the summer tourist season (from May to October 2020). This represents a decline of 40.9% (–9.3 million overnight stays) compared with the same period a year earlier. With a total of 10.2 million overnight stays, domestic demand rose by 3.9% (+384 000). Foreign visitors registered a 75.2% decrease (–9.6 million) with 3.2 million overnight stays. These are the provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
