Household production satellite account 2020
Press release: The Household Production Satellite Account (SHHP) measures the economic importance of unpaid work by relating the imputed monetary value of unpaid work to Switzerland's total gross value added. The time volume for unpaid work of the total permanent resident population aged 15 and over in Switzerland is calculated. This is estimated in monetary terms using a market cost method with a labour cost approach so that it can be compared as an imputed cash flow with the national accounts.In 2020, 9.8 billion hours were spent on unpaid work in Switzerland. That is more than were spent on paid work (7.6 billion hours). The total amount of unpaid work performed in 2020 corresponds to a monetary value of CHF 434 billion.
