Typology of municipalities 2012, FSO 2017 - IMPI

In second instance, to characterise the municipalities in the urban area, the IMPI makes use of a more detailed level of spatial classification for Switzerland at the FSO, which is the “Typology of municipalities 2012, FSO 2017”. The classification of municipalities into typologies uses criteria of density and size with regard to inhabitants, jobs and equivalents for hotel overnight stays (“IJO”* variable). It also takes into account commuter flows: The formula is IJO = inhabitants + jobs + overnight stays • 2) = 365.
