Rural municipalities - IMPI

The majority of rural municipalities are areas outside the influence of urban cores (e.g. Quinto TI, Nottwil LU, or Wynigen AG). Low density commuter municipalities are also included (e.g. Aeugst am Albis ZH, Cressier FR, or Schwarzenberg LU). Rural municipalities occupy the largest surface area at 60%. 16% of the population live in rural municipalities and 10% of jobs are found there.
