Definition
The types of municipality for the IMPI are based on the nine types municipality of the official FSO typology (urban-rural typology and the typology of municipality 2012). For the IMPI, the nine are further aggregated into the following five categories:
- urban municipality of a larger urban zone
- urban municipality of a medium-sized agglomeration
- urban municipality of a small or outside agglomeration
- intermediate municipality
- rural municipality
