Cultural practices in Switzerland - 2008 survey Culturally active young people

Bern, Neuchâtel, 23.06.2009 (FOC/FSO) - Going to concerts, visiting monuments and going to the cinema are the most frequently practised cultural activities in Switzerland; approximately two thirds of the population engage in them. Young people tend to take more advantage of what is on offer culturally, particularly films and concerts. Factors such as educational level or household income play an important role in access to culture. Amateur cultural practice is also significant, particularly in the field of music. These are the main results of a study published jointly by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) and the Federal Office of Culture (FOC).
