Hospital Statistics 2019 Only slight increase in inpatient hospital costs in 2019

The number of MRI devices in hospitals has increased by 25% in 5 years

20.11.2020 - In 2019, one million people received inpatient care in a Swiss hospital or birthing centre. This corresponds to 12% of the total population, which is roughly the same as in the previous year. The number of inpatient hospital stays was 1.47 million. Hospitals’ inpatient costs increased only slightly by 2.1%. In contrast, for outpatient costs, a rise of 4.6% was observed in 2019 (2018: 3%). These are some of the results from the Hospital Statistics from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
