House-building activity in 3rd quarter 2012 More newly built dwellings

Neuchâtel, 10.12.2012 (FSO) - According to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), 12,040 new dwellings were built in Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2012. This corresponds to an increase of 4% compared with the same quarter a year earlier. 75,320 dwellings were under construction at the end of September 2012, which corresponds to a 6% increase year-on-year. From July to September 2012 the number of dwellings with planning permission increased by 23% compared with the same quarter a year earlier, to 15,690 units.
