Statistical Yearbook of Switzerland and Statistical Data on Switzerland 2020 New edition of standard reference book on Swiss statistics has been published
30.03.2020 - The 2020 edition of the Statistical Yearbook of Switzerland which marks its 127th anniversary presents current and relevant information from all topics covered by official statistics. In addition to French and German texts with a number of graphics and maps, methodological explanations and a large selection of data with tables, the infographics give an overview of the main points and provide a visual introduction to each chapter.
The Statistical Yearbook of Switzerland 2020, the statistical chronicle of our country, provides a summary of relevant facts on our society, economy, territory and environment. For more than 125 years, it has described the ever-changing face of Switzerland, illustrating the development of our federal state in figures and in the scope of the covered topics.
With this continuity and format, the Yearbook contrasts - and supplements - the FSO’s extensive statistical online information such as the websites offered by Swiss official statistics, social media channels or the open data platform.
A special website (www.stat-jahrbuch.ch) provides an overview of the yearbook and shows a selection of interesting content from previous yearbooks.
New in the 2020 edition
Information from the “Survey on diversity and coexistence in Switzerland” (chapter 1), on the topics of organic farming (chapter 7), transport costs (chapter 11) and on the 2019 federal elections (chapter 17) has been newly included or featured in more detail this year in the 2020 edition. The topic of the 2019 National Council elections is also covered with a traditional map supplement, improved on previous years, providing a simple, visual overview of the results.
Statistical Data available in five languages
Like the yearbook, the “Statistical Data” is also divided into the topics of official statistics. Short texts, simple tables and numerous graphics invite the reader to browse through and discover 52 colourful pages of key statistical information. Available online and free of charge, it is published in full in five languages: in addition to German, French and Italian it is also available in English and Rhaeto-Romance.
The 2020 edition is available once again as an interactive, digital publication in the FSO app “SwissStats” and in a web viewer especially intended for use with mobile devices: https://www.swissstats.bfs.admin.ch
