More deaths and marriages in 2022 in a growing population
05.04.2022 - According to the provisional figures for 2021 from the population and household statistics of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the permanent resident population of Switzerland increased by 0.8% compared with 2020, reaching more than 8.7 million inhabitants at the end of 2021. 89 400 live births were registered in 2021, a figure not seen since 1972. There was also an increase in marriages and divorces and a decrease in deaths, according to the provisional results for 2021 from the Vital Statistics.
