Tonne-kilometres (road goods transport)

Unit used to measure goods transport performance. One tonne-kilometre (tkm) equates to the transport of one tonne of goods over a distance of one kilometre. The calculation includes the weight of the goods’ immediate packaging but not the tare weight of the vehicle and transport units (palettes and containers, etc.).
