Unpaid work Data, indicatorsIntroduction
An activity is classed as unpaid work if it is a productive activity that has no remuneration and could in theory be carried out by a third person for payment: housework and childcare, honorary activities and work for voluntary organisations and helping friends and family. The most important area and also the most time-consuming, is the task of housework and childcare. Depending on one’s family situation and sex, the amount of work can vary between 10 and 56 hours per week (2010 figures).
