Police crime statistics 2011
Marked increase in reports of theft
Neuchâtel, 26.03.2012 (FSO) – In 2011, the police crime statistics of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) recorded 692,954 criminal offences. In comparison with the previous year Penal Code offences increased by 6% (+31,980 offences). This increase is particularly striking for theft (+16%, +29,787), whereas a decline can be observed for offences against life and limb (-7%, -1842) or sexual integrity (-3%, -200). Also on the increase are reports of offences against the Narcotics Act (+2%, +2038) and against the Act on Foreign Nationals (+10% +2792). As far as the number of accused is concerned, a decline was recorded for Penal Code offences (-1.9%, -1521), but only for juvenile offences (-21%, -2849) and young adults (-0.6%, -91).
