An overview of the system of compensation for loss of earnings
The system of compensation for loss of earnings (EO) compensates persons who are in military, civil or civil protection services for part of their loss of earnings. Persons in service are compensated for 80% of their wages before joining the service (maximum CHF 196 per day). The system of compensation for loss of earnings also pays maternity benefits.
Financing
The EO contributions are collected by the compensation funds together with those for the AHV/IV. The contributions amount to 0.5% of a person's determinant income. Contributions are paid in equal parts by employers and employees.
