Unemployment insurance – Data, indicatorsFinances

Unemployment insurance (ALV)

The unemployment insurance, which was introduced as a compulsory insurance in 1976, covers risks associated with unemployment. It also combats unemployment with measures aimed at the labour market (courses, temporary employment, work experience, training grants, etc).

Financing
ALV revenues consist almost exclusively of contributions paid by employers and employees in equal shares. Federal government subsidies may not exceed 5% of total expenditures.

Statistical data
The main data on financing and ALV recipients can be found at the Federal Social Insurance Office. Detailed results can be accessed in the statistical lexicon.

Further information
Information on legislation, on unemployment insurance projects and current news can be found on the internet pages of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
