Neuchâtel, 14.05.2012 (FSO) – The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) fell by 0.1% in April 2012 compared with the previous month, reaching 98.7 points (base December 2010 = 100). The price declines in the majority of the product groups that were surveyed this month were offset by price increases in the energy sector in particular (petroleum, natural gas, motor fuel). The price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products dropped by 2.3% year on year.

However, differing trends were to some extent observed among the individual product groups. For example, crude petroleum, gas, measuring and monitoring instruments, medical equipment and materials registered rising prices, whereas milk and milk products, petroleum products and electricity were sold at lower prices. Neuchâtel, 16.01.2012 (FSO) - The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) rose in December 2011 by 0.3% compared with the previous month. The index stands at 97.7 points (base December 2010 = 100). Further price increases for petroleum and petroleum products in particular led to an increase of 0.5% in the import price index, whereas the producer price index for domestically produced goods rose by 0.2%. Year-on-year, a price decline of 2.3% was observed. The price level during 2011 as a whole was 0.9% lower than in 2010, with prices for domestic products (-1.1%) falling more than those for imports (-0.5%). After a phase of slight price increases lasting until April 2011, from May to November price declines were registered, which were in some cases considerable. Prices did not register an increase again until December 2011. In the overall balance for 2011, many products showed lower prices than in the previous year (in particular chemical and pharmaceutical products as well as omputers, electrical equipment and machinery). Conversely petroleum and metal products as well as gas showed price increases.

It reached 99.3 points (December 2010=100). Year-on-year inflation was -0.7%, compared to annualised rates of -0.5% in November 2011 and 0.5% in December 2010. The average annualised inflation rate for the year 2011 was 0.2%.
Neuchâtel, 22.12.2011 (FSO) - According to the construction price index compiled by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), construction prices overall rose again between April 2011 and October 2011 (+0.6%) although not as much as they had in the preceding half-year (+1.5%). This price increase was due to higher growth in civil engineering prices (+1.1%) than in building prices (+0.5%). These developments are the result of the general economic conditions in the construction industry, which remain good. In year-on-year comparison, between October 2010 and October 2011, construction as a whole also registered an increase in prices: +2.1% (+1.8% in building and +3.2% in civil engineering).

Neuchâtel, 14.11.2011 (FSO) - The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) fell by 0.2% in October 2011 compared to the previous month, reaching 98.1 points (base December 2010 = 100), thus continuing the trend in falling prices observed since May 2011. Both domestic products (-0.1%) and to a greater extent imported products (-0.5%), registered a price decline. This was due in particular to lower prices for machinery, motor vehicles and electrical equipment. The price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products was 1.8% lower than a year earlier.
Neuchâtel, 14.11.2011 (FSO) - The health insurance premium index (KVPI) registered an increase of 5.8% for premiums in 2011 compared with the previous year. On the basis of 1999=100, the KVPI reached an index level of 165.3 points. The KVPI, which is calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) follows the evolution of premiums for compulsory and complementary health insurance. By means of the KVPI, the effects of the evolution of premiums on the growth of disposable income can be calculated. According to the KVPI model calculation, rising premiums curbed the growth of the average disposable income by 0.4% in 2011.

Falling prices had already been registered from May to July, though less markedly than in August. The index now stands at 98.5 points (base December 2010 = 100). The producer price index for domestically produced goods declined by 0.8% and import prices by 2%. Lower prices were registered in particular for petroleum and petroleum products, natural gas, paper and paper products, chemical products, pharmaceutical products, plastic products as well as metals and metal products. Compared with August 2010, the price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products fell by 1.9%.

Neuchâtel, 23.06.2011 (FSO) - According to the construction price index compiled by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), construction prices overall registered an increase between October 2010 and April 2011 (+1.5%) which was higher than during the preceding half-year. This price increase was due to higher growth in civil engineering prices (+2.1%) than in building prices (+1.3%). These developments are the result of the general economic conditions in the construction industry, which remain good. In year-on-year comparison, between April 2010 and April 2011, the construction industry as a whole also registered an increase in prices: +2.3% (+2.4% in building and +2.1% in civil engineering).
