The panorama also includes:
- Price level of Switzerland in international comparison: According to calculations by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), Switzerland’s price level is still higher than that of most other European countries. But in recent years, a price convergence between Switzerland and the European average has been observed. The gap between the Swiss and the EU mean was reduced from 34 index points or percentage points in 2005 to 27% in 2008 (EU-27 = 100).
- Development of individual product categories: Between 2005 and 2009, the prices for services registered in the CPI rose by 5.4% (by 5.6% for private services and by 4.1% for public services). Prices for goods rose less strongly, by 1.7%.
- Residential rents: Between 2005 and 2009, apartment rents rose by 9.5%, while other consumer prices rose by an average of only 2.5%.
