Producer and Import Price Index in April 2012
Slight fall in the index compared with the previous month – year-on-year inflation -2.3%
Neuchâtel, 14.05.2012 (FSO) – The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) fell by 0.1% in April 2012 compared with the previous month, reaching 98.7 points (base December 2010 = 100). The price declines in the majority of the product groups that were surveyed this month were offset by price increases in the energy sector in particular (petroleum, natural gas, motor fuel). The price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products dropped by 2.3% year on year.

National Consumer Price Index in April 2012
Slight price increase of 0.1%
Neuchâtel, 07.05.2012 (FSO) – The national consumer price index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) registered an increase of 0.1% in April 2012. It reached 99.8 points (December 2010=100). Year-on-year inflation was -1.0%, compared with annualised rates of -1.0% in March 2012 and +0.3% in April 2011.

Producer and Import Price Index in March 2012
Rising index mainly due to higher oil product prices – year-on-year inflation -2.0%
Neuchâtel, 16.04.2012 (FSO) – The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) rose in March 2012 by 0.3% compared with the previous month, reaching 98.8 points (base December 2010 = 100). The rise is due in particular to higher prices for oil and petroleum products. The price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products dropped by 2.0% year on year.

Prices rise by 0.6%
Neuchâtel, 05.04.2012 (FSO) – The national consumer price index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) registered an increase of 0.6% in March 2012. It reached 99.7 points (December 2010=100). Year-on-year inflation was -1.0%, compared with annualised rates of -0.9% in February 2012 and +1.0% in March 2011.

Producer and Import Price Index in February 2012
Rising index due especially to higher prices for chemical and pharmaceutical products
Neuchâtel, 13.03.2012 (FSO) – The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) rose by 0.8% in February 2012 compared with the previous month, reaching 98.4 points (base December 2010 = 100). This was primarily attributable to higher prices for chemical and pharmaceutical products which are collected on a quarterly basis. But petroleum and metal products also registered price increases. The price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products dropped by 1.9% year on year.

Neuchâtel, 08.03.2012 (FSO) – The national consumer price index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) registered an increase of 0.3% in February 2012. It reached 99.1 points (December 2010=100). Year-on-year the inflation rate was -0.9%, compared with annualised rates of -0.8% in January 2012 and 0.5% in February 2011.
