The satellite accounts offer an extension to the central framework of the national accounts by providing a detailed representation of a particular area of the economy or by developing alternative concepts. Specific needs with regard to non-monetary data and information are thus met, enabling in-depth analyses. As they are largely based on the concepts and classifications of the national accounts (NA) central framework, satellite accounts also form a link between non-monetary statistics and this framework.
In Switzerland, satelllite accounts exist for the following areas: (available in French and German)
- The role of tourism in the Swiss economy is detailed in the tourism satellite account;
- The annual indicators of the tourism satellite account provide a first provisional estimate of how the role of tourism in the Swiss economy has evolved;
- The economic accounts of the primary sector are made up of different modules, in particular accounts devoted to the branches of the primary sector (agriculture, forestry and fishery), the economic agricultural accounts and the regional agricultural accounts;
- The household production satellite account shows the relation between the monetary value of non-paid work to the total gross value added in Switzerland;
