Cantonal incomes
The Swiss Federal Statistical Office (SFO) has decided to suspend the publication of cantonal revenues. This decision arises from the methodological changes necessary to adapt the calculations to the revised data of the National Accounts, introduced at the end of 2007. Preliminary research pointed out the difficulty, using the actual database, to apply the new concepts introduced with the 2007 National Accounts revision (for example the Financial Intermediation Services Indirectly Measured) at the cantonal level. In addition, the accelerated development of supra cantonal and national entities (holdings, groups of enterprises) in the last years implies an alteration of the nature and importance of certain flows, especially those related to property income. As a subsitute for the cantonal revenues, the SFO will publish the cantonal Gross Domesic Product in autumn 2012.
