Broad-based growth of the Swiss economy in 2010
Neuchâtel, 26.08.2011 (FSO) - According to initial Swiss National Accounts estimates by the Federal Statistical Office, the Swiss economy registered significant growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in 2010. GDP rose by 2.7% at the previous year's prices (-1.9% in 2009). Taking a slight rise in the general price level into account, GDP at current prices stood at 2.8%. The dynamism of exports and investments underpinned the growth of the Swiss economy in 2010 and was also reflected in an increase in the value added of the secondary and tertiary sectors. Gross national income (GNI) at current prices registered, for its part, a very positive development (+6.9%), following already exceptional growth in 2009 (+9.1%).
