Production rollout of the UID register on January 11th, 2011

The FSO makes available to the public a central register of businesses, solely for the purpose of business identification. The federal law on the Unique Identification Number for Businesses (UIDB) became effective on January 1st, 2011.

The new EU regulation for business registers was adopted in March 2008 and published in the official journal.

NOGA 2008

The nomenclature of the “NOGA 2008“ economic activities has been integrated in the BER. All businesses included in the BUR have a NOGA 2008 code.

Brief profile

 

The Business and Enterprise Register (BER) contains all local units and businesses which exercise an economic activity in Switzerland. The most important information is constantly updated using various sources.

The FSO uses the BER as an address register for statistical surveys on businesses and workplaces. Other offices of the federal administration and numerous cantons also use the BER for statistical or administrative purposes.
