Business and Enterprise Register (BER)
The Federal Statistical Office maintains the Business and Enterprise Register (BER), which contains all businesses, enterprises and firms, including public sector enterprises that have their registered office in Switzerland. The computerised database is updated continuously and is used for statistical purposes, research and planning, as well as to respond to specific enquiries from the Confederation.
National Register of Buildings and Dwellings (RBD)
The National Register of Buildings and Dwellings (RBD) contains the most important basic data on buildings and dwellings. Each building and dwelling in Switzerland is assigned a unique and unambiguous identification number and a standardised (geocoded) address.

The aim of this project is to harmonise the cantonal and communal personal registers as well as the Confederation’s (federal government’s) principal personal registers in the areas of civil status, foreign residents and asylum seekers.
