The Statistics Office of the City of Zurich is a service belonging to the City Council and Mayor's Chambers.
Activities
- The Statistics Office of the City of Zurich is the central statistical point for the city and is entrusted with the task of collecting and analysing statistics on subjects such as population and society, the economy and employment, as well as spatial development and the environment. The data collected is then evaluated and the information disseminated to meet the public's needs.
- As well as participating in national surveys organised by federal authorities (covering statistics such as on population, construction and business census), the Office also conducts its own surveys (Consumer Price Index of the City of Zurich, Residential Construction Price Index of the City of Zurich, Survey on Rents).
- The Office conducts tailor-made statistical analyses for clients, prepares information for the purpose of planning and decision-making, and also plays an advisory role to private and public bodies in statistical matters.
