FSO Classifications in SDMX-ML Format

The SDMX (Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange) initiative aims to promote the dissemination and sharing of statistical data and metadata. The SDMX standards are sponsored by major international institutions such as the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the European Central Bank (ECB), Eurostat (the Statistical Office of the European Union), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations and the World Bank.

The SDMX information model is an implementation of the ebXML register specification. SDMX standards constitute and ISO standard technical specification (ISO/Technical Specification 17369:2005).

The Swiss Federal Statistical Office FSO endorses this initiative by disseminating its statistical classification system in SDMX-ML files. These files may be freely downloaded below.

Interested users will also find here a zip file containing the official standard SDMX schemas in XSD format which they may use to validate the SDMX-ML classifications. Offical SDMX documentation is also offered here.

The FSO also offers the possibility of directly connecting IT systems to these SDMX files of statistical classifications (i.e. such as web services). The excel file below lists the permanent URL to be used.
