Finding information

How do I find detailed information?

There are several ways to find public statistics:

a. The first way is to browse through the “Topics” section of the Swiss Statistics Web Site, which contains statistics relating to the main public statistics topics.

b. If you are unable to find what you are looking for in this manner, the search engine on each page may be helpful.

c. The online Swiss Statistical Encyclopedia contains a wealth of statistical information, mainly in the form of downloadable files.

d. SFSO publications are another rich source of information and can be ordered online.

e. Although publications cover a great many needs, they may not always suffice. For this reason, the SFSO created the Statistical Information Service. Submitted queries are either answered by the Statistical Information Service directly or by one of the SFSO sections that deals with the given topic. Depending on the request, information is conveyed verbally, in writing, on magnetic tape or diskette or via e-mail. There is an official list of contact persons within the SFSO and other statistical offices.

f. Open to the public, the SFSO Library maintains an archive of all documents that have been published by the SFSO since its inception in 1860. There are also many publications from cantons and cities, the EU, the EFTA and several international organizations (OECD, UN, etc.).
