Secondary Sector Production, Orders and Turnover Statistics lncrease in secondary sector production in Switzerland in 1st quarter 2018

Production in Switzerland's secondary sector fell by 3.3% in 1st quarter 2024

Neuchâtel, 13 June 2018 (FSO) - Secondary sector production rose by 8.1% in 1st quarter 2018 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover rose by 8.8%.

In comparison with the previous year industrial production grew in January by 7.1%, in February by 11.3%, and in March by 11.2%. For the whole of 1st quarter 2018, production increased by 9.0% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier.

Construction production increased by 2.9% in 1st quarter 2018 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Production rose by 6.9% in building, civil engineering also registered an increase (+7.6%). Lastly, specialised construction activities registered an increase of 0.5% in their production.

Turnover

Industrial turnover in January rose by 7.4% in comparison with the previous year, and in February (+12.9%) and in March (+12.6%). For the whole of 1st quarter 2018 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier, turnover registered an increase of 10.0%.

Construction turnover rose by 2.8% in 1st quarter 2018 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover rose by 8.0% in building, civil engineering registered an increase of 7.6% and specialised construction activities a decline of 0.3%.
