The City Statistics project provides information and comparisons on living conditions in more than 900 European cities through statistical data covering most aspects of living conditions such as demography, housing, health, labour market and education. Switzerland conducts the project under the auspices of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) together with the Federal Office for Spatial Development (ARE), the Federal Housing Office (FHO), the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and the cities Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Winterthur and Zurich.
