Production in Switzerland's secondary sector fell by 3.3% in 1st quarter 2024
Neuchâtel, 23.05.2017 (FSO) - Secondary sector production declined 1.3% in 1st quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover fell by 1.7%.
In comparison with the previous year industrial production grew in January by 0.4%, it registered a decline in February of 1.2%, as well as in March by 2.9%. For the whole of 1st quarter 2017 production declined by 1.3% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier.
Construction production declined by 1.4% in 1st quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Production rose by 4.0% in building, civil engineering in contrast registered a decline (-2.1%). Lastly, specialised construction activities registered a decline of 2.7% in their production.
Turnover
Industrial turnover in January fell by 0.1% in comparison with the previous year, and in February (-1.3%) and in March (-3.5%). For the whole of 1st quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier, turnover registered a decline of 1.6%.
Construction turnover fell by 2.0% in 1st quarter 2017 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover rose by 3.9% in building, Civil engineering registered a decline of 1.8%, specialised construction activities a decline of 4.1%.
